Lucille A. Kester “Meme” (nee Levesque) age 95 of Crete, Illinois passed away on March 1, 2021.  Beloved wife of the late George (1993). Loving mother of Dolores (Jim) Conyers, Pat (Bob) Snyder, Bob (Carol) Kester and George (Janet) Kester.  Cherished grandmother of Tim, Ivy, Elizabeth, Bobby, Daniel and Tyler. Great grandmother of Sabrina, Santiago, Sebastian, Toby, Grady and Luella. Fond aunt of many nieces and nephews.  She was a member of the Eastern Star Hazel Chapter 390 and Crete United Methodist Church.

December 18, 1938 – February 17, 2021 

Spent his entire life serving his community. Served in the Coast Guard 1956. Firefighter/EMT 1973 Paramedic for the Village of University Park October 1976 Illinois Hazardous Materials First Responder, Village of University Park, December 1990.   Worked for Gerardi’s Ambulance Service, Frankfort and Chicago Heights, and Daleys Ambulance Service South Suburban and Chicagoland area. St.James Hospital Chicago Heights IL. E.R. Emergency Patient Care Tech. From 1974 to 2004.  He was a Lifetime Member of the NRA.

Survived by his wife Jane Waller, his daughters Tiffiny Lee Waller-Miller, Edie Fortner and son Ron Waller.   Son-in-Law Mike Miller and Rich Fortner.

Grandchildren Tyler Lee Waller, Michaela Kendra Miller, Emma Grace Miller. Kalman Fortner and Rich Fortner.  Step-Children Rodney Lovvorn, Tamera Sims, Dana Dawson, and Bethany Nicholas.

Janet G Simpson

Janet Gail Simpson (Weiss), 65, of Beecher, Illinois passed away Sunday, February 14, 2021.

Devoted wife to Edward for 46 years and loving mother to Jennifer Parker and Carolyn Vuko. She was a proud grandma, who was called Nana by Joel and Benjamin Vuko.

She was a loving sister to Audrey (Dave) DePaulo, Christina (Joseph) Donaldson, Daniel (Toni) Weiss and an aunt to many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by parents William A. and Carol Judith Weiss, sister Cynthia Kellbach, brother William J. Weiss and nephew Ryan Cole.

Janet loved spending time with her two grandsons, playing in the dirt in her gardens and reading.

A memorial mass will be held in June at St. Agnes Church in Chicago Heights, Illinois with a luncheon to follow.

Joel A. Grossi, Sr.

It is with profound sadness that the family of Joel Grossi Sr. announces his passing after a heroic fight with stage four cancer on February 19, 2021. 

Joel was born in Chicago, IL on November 10, 1945, to Frances and Robert Grossi. He attended Marian Catholic High School in Chicago Heights, IL and graduated from St. Ambrose University in Davenport, IA.  While working three jobs and raising a family, he earned a Master’s degree in Education from DePaul University.

He will be lovingly remembered by his students, faculty and staff at Crete-Monee School District.  He proudly dedicated over 30 years of his life to being a beloved Teacher, Assistant Principal and Administrator.  Joel impacted the lives of so many, and his legacy will live on through his students. 

Joel was known for his devotion of faith, love of family, the intellect of a genius, and having the quick-witted ability to converse with anyone on any subject.

He married the love of his life, Terri Koza, on November 28, 1983.  His love for his wife and children was unmatched.

Joel is survived by his mother, Frances Grossi, and is preceded in death by his father, Robert Grossi.

He is also survived by his children, Brian (Nikki) Rzyski, Ben (Megan) Rzyski, Joel (Sarah) Grossi, Samantha Grossi and Bill Petty, her fiancé; six grandchildren Brian, William, Ethan, Reid, Tilly, and Aubrey, four Brothers; Timothy (Vickie) Grossi, Paul (Toni) Grossi, Greg (Lori) Grossi and Andrew (Peggy) Grossi; and one sister, Roberta (Michael) Kamradt, along with nieces, Kimberly Grossi, Kathy Faso, Laura Longo, Andrea Grossi, Amanda Grossi, Patti Grossi, and Jackie Kamradt; nephews, Paul Grossi, Timothy Grossi, Alex Grossi, Michael Kamradt, Danny Grossi, and Adam Grossi.  Joel is also survived by his beloved wife’s family, Kathrine Simpson (Thomas Parochelli), Jane (Angelo) DeAngelis, MaryAnn (Garry) Rooney, Linda (Thomas) Husum, David Koza (Ronna Laveille) , Diane (Liam) Carey, James (Donna) Koza, along with her nieces, Christie, Nicole, Katie; nephews Jeff, Eric, Jamie, Joe, and Colin. 

Visitation will be held at the Kerr-Parzygnot Funeral Home, 540 Dixie Highway, Chicago Heights, IL, on Friday, February 26, 2021, from 3:00 pm to 6:30pm, private family service 6:30pm to 7:00pm.

Funeral Services will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, unfortunately due to Covid the mass will be family only.

Ronald ‘Ron’ D. Wiedmyer age 76 of Steger, Illinois passed away on February 18, 2021.  Loving husband of Lynn (nee DeGlopper); beloved father of Lisa (John) Brady, Patricia Wiedmyer, John (Jackie) Wiedmyer and the late Stephanie Wiedmyer.  Cherished grandfather of 15; great grandfather of 9.  Dear brother to the late Lorraine.  His fur babies Buddy and Bailey.  Ron worked as an Engineer for Ameritech, member of the Knights of Columbus and served proudly in the U.S. Army.

Kathleen Rose Dewey (nee Sandroni) passed away peacefully on February 12th in Peoria, AZ.  She was born on April 16th, 1938 in Chicago Heights at St. James Hospital.  She lived a wonderful life surrounded by a very loving and close family.  She went to Bloom High School, was married to Bill Dewey in 1958 and they celebrated 62 years of marriage together after dating for 5 years.  She lived in the southern California area for 5 years in the late 60’s and then moved back to Chicago Heights.  She also lived in Homewood and Darien until moving to Arizona in 2014 to be near her sons.  She worked off and on through the years and retired from the Illinois Hospital Association.  She loved her work and her family dearly and is leaving many friends and family.

She’s survived by her loving husband, Bill Dewey and her two sons Jeff and Kevin and her grandson who she adored, Hunter Dewey who all live in the Phoenix area.

Gregory “Greg” J. Roesch, age 56, born in St. Louis, Missouri on September 5, 1964, passed away February 8, 2021.  Loving husband to his wife of 31 years Laura (nee Gavel) and loving father to Amy Roesch and Staci Roesch.  Loving uncle and great-uncle to many nieces and nephews who love him to the moon and back.  He is survived by his parents Louis (Carole) Roesch and Patricia (nee Brader) Roesch and his siblings Lou Jr. (Karen) Roesch, Jeff (Sandy) Roesch, and Chris (Steve) Kirsch.  Greg graduated from Lewis University in 1986 with a degree in Computer Science.  He worked at Argonne Labs, Sears, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois (25 years), and the last few years at Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago. He loved going to Disney World, the zoo, theme parks, St. Louis, the Smoky Mountains, hiking and camping in Michigan, N gauge train sets, collecting Disney pins, and soccer. He will be remembered for always being at special occasions and his corny dad jokes.
