Tassie Kouchis age 89 of Chicago Heights, Illinois passed away on April 14, 2021.  Loving sister to Sula Loukaki; beautiful aunt to Maria (Charalampos) Armakolas and Dr. Nick (Nia) Kouchis.  Great aunt to Mary Margaret Kouchis and Spero Kouchis.  Preceded in death by her brother Sam Kouchis, sister-in-law Mary Kouchis and brother-in-law Gabriel Loukaki.  Tassie worked for over 45 years as a trust officer and secretary to the President at the Chicago Heights National Bank.  She will be remembered by many she assisted in the community and will be deeply missed. Tassie also dedicated much of her time and service to the Assumption Ladies Philoptochos Society. She loved to travel, cook and entertain for family and friends.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to The Assumption Greek Orthodox Church of Homer Glen, www.assumptiongreekorthodox.org.

James H. Watson Jr.  age 83 resident of Crete, Illinois passed away on April 10, 2021. Loving husband to the late Kathleen (nee Kerrigan) 2010. Beloved father to James III (Kimberly) Watson, David (Deborah) Watson, Mary Anne (Michael Matchinis), and Joseph Watson. Cherished grandfather of 10 and great grandfather of 6.   Jim preceded in death by two sisters Dorothy Tobuch and Eleanor Olson.  Jim was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago where he met and married, at the young age of 19, his wife and life partner Kathleen Kerrigan.  Partnering with his father in the used auto parts business, Jim escalated ABC Auto Parts from a “junk yard” to one of Chicagoland’s largest automotive recyclers.  Jim was fortunate to work alongside all four of his children and many of his grandchildren.  Jim’s grandchildren describe Jim as “winning the jackpot when it comes to grandparents”.  To his children he was their father, mentor and friend. To those closest, Jim will be remembered for his model marriage to Kathleen, wise words of wisdom and the importance he placed on family, not to mention his passion for his business where he worked 6 days a week for his entire life.  Sundays were dedicated to faith and family.  We will miss him every day but he will live on when we host our family talent show at Christmas, when we sit in the corner booth at RL’s, when we play cards and when we bring our dollar pads to Vegas.

Blair S. Priebe age 69 of Peotone, Illinois went home to his Heavenly Father on April 10, 2021.  Loving husband to Betty (nee Huizenga);  beloved father to Traci (Michael) Freitas. Proud grandfather to Nolan and Kaelyn. Dear son to Jayne (Renda) Priebe; dear sister to Kim (Priebe) Olson and kind uncle to many nieces and nephews. Proceeded in death by his father Raymond Priebe. Blair was a U.S. army veteran and owned Dart Copy Service.  Blair had many hobbies including music and sports.  He was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan.

Darlis D Schofield

It is with deep sympathy that the family of Darlis Schofield announces her passing at the age of 81.  Darlis was survived by her husband, Donald Schofield, of 61 years.  Darlis is remembered as a sweet caring person.  She sent birthday cards to nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews and 100’s of friends.  Darlis saw it as her mission in life that everyone would receive at least one birthday wish every year.  Darlis had a great sense of humor and was always ready with a joke. 

She was preceded in death by her sister Shirley Candall and her brother Orlando Webb.  She is survived by her husband Donald, and her children Donald T. Schofield II, Douglas (Sharon Leong) Schofield and Diane (George) Scott.  She was blessed by her grandchildren Franklin Scott, Jessica Schofield and Samantha Schofield.  She was survived by her siblings Linda Whaley, William Clark Webb, J. Chris Kent and Roxanne Brown.

Carl Joseph Carlsson (CJ), 62, born June 4, 1958 was a longtime resident of Crete, Illinois. Carl passed away peacefully at his home on April 6, 2021.  He graduated from Crete Monee High School in 1976 and earned his bachelor’s degree in business from Calumet College.   Carl spent many years working at Calumet Flexicore Corporation in Hammond, Indiana as an accountant and purchasing agent.  He was a man of many diverse interests with a wealth of knowledge in several areas.  As an avid fan of nature, Carl loved the outdoors and spending time on the family farm.  In his younger days, he looked forward to celebrating the 4th of July by staging professional firework shows for local communities.  He was a self-taught locksmith and was always aware of current events. Showing simple gestures of kindness to his family and friends brought Carl great joy.  With a mischievous and boyish sense of humor, Carl always tried to bring laughter to those whom he spent time.

Carl was the beloved son of Carl L. and the late RoseMarie (nee Schnepf) Carlsson.  He was the loving brother to Elizabeth Carlsson, Christina (Dan) LeCocq, Cynthia (Allen) Lucas, and his late brother, Kurt Carlsson.  He was the cherished uncle to Carly, Matthew, Margaret, Jack, Brian and Hannah.

Milton H Zara

Milton H. Zara also known as “Uncle Miltie” age 93, of Park Forest, Illinois passed away on April 2, 2021.  Born October 26, 1927 in Montclair, New Jersey to the late Haig and late Grace (Nee Tungrian) Zara.  Loving husband of 70 years to Louise (nee Kahrimanian) which was celebrated just a day before his passing.  Beloved father to Gregory Zara, Kevin (Ramie) Zara and Cheryl (Russ) Zara Vanderhoff.   

Milton went to two Ivy League colleges MIT and Brown University.  After attending MIT he was drafted into the Army to serve in World War II where he served proudly. When he came back he attended Brown University where he graduated with a Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering. He also played on Brown’s Rugby team. During his summer breaks he would head to NY to help his parents with their guest house near the Saratoga Springs horse track, one summer at the guest house he met his future bride.

 In 1965 he and his bride and two sons moved to Chicago suburbs for work. He was hired at De Soto, later to be bought out by Sonneborn and then Dural. During the last 70’s he decided it was time to venture out on his own forming his own building product consulting firm called, Zara and Associates which had him traveling all over the U.S. During his work stint he established two US patents

He took an interest in coin collecting, stamp collecting, playing the piano, Oudh and Mandolin. He also enjoyed traveling and playing cards with friends. He was a member of the Mensa Society with an IQ of 142. Later in life he became active with family ancestry which drew him closer to relatives in Argentina, France, and Germany which he E-mailed back in forth.

He will be greatly remembered for his humor big heart and charismatic personality.
