Tony Arteaga age 55, longtime resident of Chicago Heights, Illinois, passed away on May 5, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Loving son of the late Cynthia Lockwood (2019) and sister Danise “DeeDee” Arteaga (Donna). Grandson of the late John and Helen Bystrzycki. Nephew of the late John “Jake” Bystrzycki. Uncle to Jeramiah and Abbie Arseneau. Many cousins and friends, Tony will be missed. Over 25 years of spinning records and on-air personality, Tony loved music, especially live and local bands.

Tony enjoyed a long career in the radio and music industry with a mix of on-air presence, live promotions, author and voice overs for parody commercial spots and daily entertainment. Tony’s knack for combining entertainment and music started at a young age where his Uncle “Snook” was a classical guitar player who loved to play the blues and he was also a music teacher. Tony’s love for radio was sparked by a high school speech class where he quickly figured out that music = dancing and dancing = girls. This later led to DJ’ing for some of the hottest clubs in the Chicagoland area. Tony was mentored by a local radio talent who showed him the ropes with radio station operations and the rest is rock and roll fantasy. Rest in peace and rock and roll Tony.

Celebration of Life on Sunday, May 26th from 4pm to 8pm at Tuscan Garden, 601 Holbrook Road, Glenwood, IL   info:  708-506-3154.

Tony , I never actually met you , but we have a couple mutual friends , so I would hear news about you from time to time . We chatted occasionally on this FB thing , and I was intrigued by your music and your rock band pursuits . You were a music lover , and chasing your dream becoming a promotor , and band reviewer and interviewer . You became VERY professional at it , and I enjoyed your posts . I was sorry to hear that you left us , but pleased to hear you you had many many friends . A couple times when I saw you in that LeStudio shirt ( where RUSH and other great bands had recorded at ) you gained alot of respect from me . Rest easy man , and you will be fondly remembered ..
