What do you say about a woman who was the center of everything?

The pulse of our home. The calm in every storm. The one who remembered everyone’s birthday and somehow made the rice taste like love itself.

She was a mother, a best friend, a fierce protector, and the quiet strength behind every one of us. She was a partner for over a lifetime, a soulmate until time ceases to exist, and the great love of my father’s life. Together, they built a world rooted in devotion, laughter, and the kind of love that doesn’t fade, even when everything else does.

She was the person you called when you didn’t know what to do. The one who listened without judgment. The one who showed up. No matter what.

She leaves behind a family who adored her, a husband who loved her with everything he is, children and grandchildren who carry her spirit forward, and countless nieces and nephews who loved her like a second mother. Her love extended beyond our home, touching generations with her kindness, her wisdom, and her laughter.

She was our everything, our matriarch. And she will always be.

As long as we speak her name, she is still here. In memories. In dreams. In every moment we feel the wind shift or hear her “hello” where there was silence. You will always find us, and we will always find you.

Donna, Sal, Gramma, Mom, Babe, Tia, Momma, Auntie, My love.

Donna L. Ayala,

a woman of fierce spirit and boundless love,

soars now beyond our reach,

but never beyond our hearts.

1949-2026

I’m sending my hugs and love to a family built on a foundation of laughter, love, and a close-knit bond. Praying for comfort and strength during this incredibly difficult time. And to my Aunt Sally…..this is not a goodbye, just an I’ll see you later. Thank you for being so warm and welcoming, for being the kind of person who made everyone feel happy and comfortable just by being yourself. Basically, thank you for being you. Your kindness and open heart left a lasting impression on all who knew you. Your smile will be deeply missed, but your warmth, love, and the memories you’ve created will live on in my heart

I am so sorry for your loss. I didn’t know Donna, but I’ve had the opportunity to work with Sarah for a long time. Given Sarah’s good humor and grit, I can only imagine what a loving and formidable woman Donna must have been. I’m sending all my best during this difficult time.

I was so surprised to hear about (Sally’s) Donna’s passing. It was a challenge to find her obituary. She was a lovely person! Our son’s went to school together, Jason is a fine young man. I send my condolences to all of her family! I met Sally when living in Sauk Village and the kids were young.
