Ellen L. Herrmann (nee Gustafson) age 78 longtime resident of Crete, Illinois passed away on July 6, 2022.   Beloved wife of 56 years to Paul; loving mother to Scott (Karla), Andrew (Michelle), Philip (Kristin) and the late infant Dean Herrmann.  Beautiful grandmother to 7; great grandmother to 7.  Dear sister to Carol (late Richard) Linnington and Jack (Janis) Gustafson.  Fond aunt to many.  Preceded in death by her parents John and Gladys (nee Benson) Gustafson.  In 1969 Ellen graduated with a degree in music from Olivet Nazarene University. Ellen went on to complete her Master’s Degree in Library Sciences in 1991. Ellen dedicated over 40 years as an employee of the Crete Public Library. Ellen was also the organist for 61 years at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Monee. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.  In lieu of flowers make donations to St. Paul UCC Church, 5323 Margaret in Monee, Illinois.

Memorial gathering and service on Saturday, July 16th  from 8:30am until time of service at 11:30am at St Paul United Church of Christ, 5323 Margaret Street, Monee, Illinois.  Arrangements are entrusted to Crete Funeral Home, 1182 Main Street, Crete, Illinois.    Private burial to be at a later date at St Paul UCC Cemetery in Monee, Illinois Info: (708) 672-7600.

    So sorry to hear of the passing of Ellen. She was a wonderful and very caring person. She was our organist and soloist at our wedding. She will be missed by many. She is playing the organ and singing with the choir of angels in Heaven. May you find peace and healing in the days ahead. She is with you always Paul and children in your hearts forever. Rest in peace Ellen.

    Paul and family, our prayers are with all of you during this time of loss. May god’s strength comfort all with his peace. May the tears you shed now turn into the many happy memories that shall remain forever.
    She played the organ at both of our weddings. She was such a joy to have in our family tree.

    Our deepest sympathy and prayers for you all! Ellen played the organ at our Wedding, also! She was a wonderful example to all of us growing up at St. Paul’s!
