Erik Robert DePasquale age 34 of Rydal, Georgia formerly of Steger, Illinois passed away on December 27th, 2024.

Erik was born January, 20, 1990 to Tammie Sarek and Jerry DePasquale in Chicago Heights, Illinois. A man of very few words, what Erik didn’t say with his words he showed with his actions. He was very skilled with his hands and could build or fix just about anything he wanted. Erik probably wasn’t older than 4 when he started taking apart anything electronic he could find. Unfortunately, he often didn’t get around to putting them back together. Much to the chagrin of those around him. He was a master of legos and K’Nex, building elaborate structures well past what was typical for his age. More recently, some of his favorite past times were playing nerf wars with his nephews, whom he adored, fishing, boating and riding his motorcycles. Erik flourished in his current role as Maintenance-Lead Man at Oldcastle Infrastructure, where he has worked for nearly five years.

Those left to mourn his loss include his parents Tammie Sarek and Jerry (Venus) DePasquale, sister Brittani DePasquale, nephews Traiton Helmick and Ryker Garza, grandparents Bob & Janet Sarek and Beth (late Jim) Johnson and Gerald (Mary) DePasquale, and many aunts and uncles, cousins and friends.

Erik will remain in the hearts of all who had the pleasure to know him.

Memorial Gathering on Wednesday, January 8th, 2025 from 2pm until time of service at 7pm at Steger Funeral Home, 125 E Steger Road (34th Street), Steger, IL.   Info.  (708) 755-3400.

Man of very few words but his actions spoke more than enough for him. He was definitely one of those guys you could count on for pretty much anything, that is if you could get him to even reply back. But as a coworker and a good friend I am sad to say he will be missed and he will forever be in my heart, truly. I’ll ride on for you down here, rip brother.

Eric always had a smile on his face. Every time I spoke to him he always gave me a smile. I pray for his family & know that whatever struggles he had in his life are over now. The Lord Almighty has his arms around him now.
