Frank J. Slyder age 83 of Crete, Illinois passed away on August 13, 2016. Beloved husband to Bonnie (nee Ireland); loving father to Mike (Cindy), Javette (Joseph) Pavone, Catherine Slyder Leslie Slyder, and the late David Slyder (2012). Cherished grandfather of Rashel, Michael, Christopher, Tyler, Danielle and Johnathan; great grandfather of 4. Dear brother to Betty Smith and Margo Severe. Frank served proudly in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of the Korean War. He retired from pipefitter Union Local # 597 and retired as an Assistant fire chief for Hazel Crest Fire Department. Past commander for American Legion Post #49, member of American Legion Post #330 and a Tilden Tech Alumni Associations.Visitation on Wednesday, August 17 from 2:00PM to 8:00PM at Steger Funeral Home, 125 E Steger Road (34th Street), Steger, Illinois.
