Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Swarts, who brought warmth and joy to all who knew him, on June 8, 2026.
Born in Indiana, James was a dedicated and hardworking man, well-known for his many years of loyal service as a truck driver for Ozinga Ready Mix. Beyond his professional dedication, he truly embraced life and found his greatest solace and happiness in the great outdoors. Whether he was fishing by the water, embarking on long bicycle rides, or tending to his beautiful garden, James was always most at home in nature.
James will be lovingly remembered by fiancé Anita Bruce, mother, Shirley Betler; his son, Michael Swarts; his brothers, Gene Sanders and Donnie Sanders; and his sister, Teresa Swarts; along with many extended family members and countless friends whose lives he touched with his kindness and laughter.
A celebration of James’s life will be held on June 14th at 5:00 PM at 789 W US Highway 30, Valparaiso, IN 46385.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to his GoFundMe page at gofund.me/ea62cc07d. He will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts.
