John A. Drechny,age 81, resident of Beecher, Illinois passed away on December 22, 2020. Loving husband to Sandra (nee Sullivan).  Preceded in death by his first wife Andrea (nee Haering); beloved father to Ann (David) Arnott, Angela (ScottLam) Arnott, John (Debbie) Drechny, Joel (Carrie) Drechny and Jeremy (Tina) Drechny. Cherished grandfather to Chloe, Johnny, RJ, Alex, Holly, Jeff, Allison and Kate. Dear stepfather to the late Robert (Daina) Jehling, Richard (Christine) Jehling, Laurie (Robert) Ramirez and Kathy (Scott) Walker. Stepgrandfather to 12; stepgreat-grandfather to 20 and stepgreat-great-grandfather to one. Dear brother to Candice (late Richard) Spaid. A Chicago Cubs fan since he was six, John retired as an English and drama teacher from Central Jr. High School in Steger. A devout Catholic, John was ordained a Deacon in 2001 and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus.

A memorial service will be scheduled at later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in John’s memory to Cubs Care or Catholic Charities (Joliet Diocese).

    Sorry to hear of Mr. Drechnys passing, he was my homeroom and drama teacher at Central 1982 thru 1984 and I always loved being in his class, he was energetic and spontaneous and made learning fun.
