John R. Markiewicz (Marks) age 83 passed away peacefully on November 24, 2018.  Loving husband to Kathleen; beloved father to Christine (Paul) Little, Patty (Kevin) McNichols and Carrie (Scott CPD) McKenna.  Cherished grandfather of Steven (Vida) McNichols, Michelle (Jesse) Vidor, Kacey, Michael and Patrick McKenna; great grandfather of Donovan and Madilyn McNichols.  John was born on February 3, 1935 to John and Natalie (nee Gluchowski) Markiewicz in Chicago.  He graduated from Hyde Park H.S. in 1952 and Roosevelt University in 1956.  John was drafted in 1957 and served as a Medic in the U.S. Army.  After his military duty, he began a 36 year career at CNA Insurance where he met his wife, Kathleen.  They were happily married for 57 years.  John enjoyed coaching football at St. Kieran in the 70s.  He loved to garden and took courses to become a Master Gardener.  He had regular lunches with retired friends (ROMEO€™s), and liked to stop by the Legion Hall and Rec Center.  He loved fishing and he loved WI, especially his annual family trip to Shawano Lake.  He shared every trip with extended family and friends, welcoming everyone with a smile, a story and a cocktail.Memorial gathering Monday, December 3^rd  from 3PM until the time of service at 7PM at Kerr-Parzygnot Funeral Home 540 Dixie Hwy.
