Obituary
Joyce A. Polka (nee Bruns) of Homewood, formerly of Chicago Heights, passed on December 12, 2021 at Generations Nursing Facility with family by her side.
Joyce was born on February 1, 1921 in Richton Park, IL and moved to Chicago Heights where she spent the majority of her life until she moved to Homewood, IL. She retired from Marshall Field and Co. in Park Forest, IL. She was a member of seniors Friday bowling league, and the Chicago Heights Park District Senior Citizens Wednesday group. As well as being involved in her work and recreational groups Joyce was most proud of caring for her children and grandchildren who were the light of her life. She was an amazing mom and grandmother who always put her family’s well being first and foremost. She was loved dearly by all those around her for her kind heart and generosity which she demonstrated till the end, always worried about everyone else first.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Walter Polka and daughter Corrine DeLuca.
She is survived by her son Thomas (Tricia) Polka; granddaughter Tammy (Kevin) O’Connor, grandson Thomas Polka Jr., granddaughter Danica Albano and grandson Scott (Jackie) Duff. Great Grandchildren Mitchel Polka, Madeline Polka, Caden O’Connor, Alex Albano, Justin (Leah) Albano, Emily Duff, Katie Duff and great great granddaughter Isla Albano.
