Leonard 'Lenny' Staniszewski

Leonard ‘Lenny’ C. Staniszewski, age 82, longtime resident of Chicago Heights, Illinois passed away on August 4, 2023.  Loving husband of 49 years to the late Betty (nee Mikos); beloved father to Stacy (Jim) Zampillo and Brian (Gina) Staniszewski. Loving “Dziadzia” to Vincent and Natalie Zampillo and Laurel, Logan, and Lily Staniszewski.  Dear brother to Joanne Veis and Robert Onik and brother-in-law to Barbara Fonfara. Cherished uncle and friend to many. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Stephanie (Repetowski) Staniszewski, and his beloved older siblings Carol, Marie, Lillian, and Henry and each of their spouses.

Lenny proudly served our country as a member of the 158th U.S. Army Band out of Ft. Knox, Kentucky. He retired after 42 years as a chemist from Sherwin Williams’ Alkali Blue division. He played in the Harmonizers polka band. And he had a lifelong love of fishing and the outdoors, which he passed along to his children and grandchildren. Lenny was a parishioner at St. Kieran Catholic Church and an active member of the Polish American Club; American Legion Post 131; and the Polish American Community Fair, where he volunteered at Tuesday Night Bingo.

Visitation is on Friday, August 11^th from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Kerr-Parzygnot Funeral Home, 540 Dixie Hwy, Chicago Heights, IL.  A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 9:30 AM Saturday, August 12th at Our Lady of the Heights Catholic Church (formerly St. Kieran), 724 W 195th Street, Chicago Heights, Illinois. Committal to eternal rest will take place on Thursday, August 17^th at 12:30 PM at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois.    Info: (708) 754-0016
