Martin J. Vandercar age 69 of Chicago, Illinois passed away on March 19, 2024 at Northwestern Medical Center with his family by his side.  Beautiful son to the late John and the late Mary (nee Morley) Vandercar.  Loving brother to Patty (David) Farnesi, Gary (Sally) Vandercar, Jean (Don) Vinciguerra, Jenny (Bob) Anderson and the late John Vandercar.  Beloved uncle to Steven Anderson, Abigail Anderson, Arie Vinciguerra, Erin Oyer, Ann Sweeney, Dan Farnesi, Mike Farnesi, John Thomas Vandercar, Sarah Bergeron, Samantha Vos and Megan Swords.    Dear great uncle to many nieces and nephews.

    Perdita: Marty’s sense of humor and colorful spirit always brightened my day. I really enjoyed his company. We went on long walks and shared alot of laughs. Marty was a great listener with a beautiful mind and he spread happiness wherever he went About 3 years ago during a visit , he bought a hydrangea for my garden. Every years the blooms remind me to live in the moment. Marty’s Garden celebrates our forever, timeless connection and wonderful friendship.

    Gordon: Mellow, considerate sense of wonder and humor, curious, meditative, peaceful nature, courageous, loyal, saw best in people, positive attitude, informed, intelligent, tolerant, adventurous, Marty always lives with us.

    I used to work with Martin I’m sorry to hear he’s no longer with us. He was a great listener and very considerate of other people. He would be a friend as opposed to a coworker. My condolences to his family.

    Marty shared his love of nature and spirituality with his friends. As young adults he led us to Ellison Bay in Door County, in the middle of winter. He had an adventurous spirit. While living at the Platt’s home, he showed us its historic significance, where we found the Bee room—important for the Underground Railroad. And later, as older adults, he was meditative. I called him my Guru, as he shared his own calling into spirituality.
    Marty was unique. He was gentle and thoughtful, and also fearlessly adventurous.
