Obituary
Matthew McNicholas passed from this earth to the next on September 14th, 2020, far too soon. His friends and family are heart broken by the loss of their Son, Boyfriend, Father, Brother, Uncle, Grandson, Cousin and friend to many. Matt always marched to the beat of his own drum and never missed a time to make someone laugh. His brothers and father will cherish the summers spent at the family cottage in the North Woods and fishing on quiet mornings. Matt was a child of the 90s and loved Michael Jordan and the Bulls, beating his brothers while playing N64 and the endless summer days spent at the pool. His mother will miss the opportunity to watch Matt with his children and she so dearly would love to hold him one last time. Caring father to Emabelle and Tommy. Dear boyfriend to Stephanie Melinshyn. Beloved son to Danny and Tami (nee Mitch) McNicholas. Loving brother to Dan (Lauren) McNicholas and Mike (Sadie) McNicholas. Cherished grandson to William late Margaret) McNicholas and Carl (late Sena) Mitch. A close friend to Brenna Needles. Matt worked as a Fork Lift Operator for Fed Ex.
Emabelle adored her daddy and her family will ensure that his memory is preserved in her heart. Tommy, who is just at the beginning of his life will miss out on the things that his dad was sure to show him- fishing on the lake, Notre Dame Football and how to hit a home run – but his family will also do their best to show him the things his dad loved. Matt’s girlfriend, Stephanie will cherish the memories they had as they had just begun starting their life together. Matt will be extremely missed and his family will sorely feel the emptiness of his loss. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributions to college funds for Emabelle and Tommy.
Due to the current circumstances and restrictions caused by Covid-19, we ask that you please follow the states guidelines of wearing masks/face coverings and social distancing. On behalf of the family and the funeral home staff, we would like to thank you for your cooperation.

You don’t know love until you’ve carried a child. You don’t know grief until you’ve lost your child.

I did not know Matt but I do know the McNicholas spirit and therefore am aware of the true joy he brought to all of you and how horrible his abrupt departure must be felt. From what is shared here, I expect Matt was a complete soul and fully appreciated the pleasures of this earth. I understand how great your grief is and send my most sincere condolences. May he rest in peace. With sympathy and love, Nona
As Emabelle’s grandparents and legal guardians we are saddened by Matt’s sudden passing.
Our thoughts are with the entire McNicholas family, Tami (Gaga) in particular along with her family/friends, and the mothers (Stephanie/Brenna) of his children.
A child does not have to be biologically yours to love them like your own. Primo and I will always love Matt (pumpkin) Danny and Mike. My heart goes out to you at this difficult time and I will keep you in our prayers. Thoughtfully, Chris Zartuche
I will cherish you in my heart always.
