Matthew McNicholas passed from this earth to the next on September 14th, 2020, far too soon. His friends and family are heart broken by the loss of their Son, Boyfriend, Father, Brother, Uncle, Grandson, Cousin and friend to many.  Matt always marched to the beat of his own drum and never missed a time to make someone laugh. His brothers and father will cherish the summers spent at the family cottage in the North Woods and fishing on quiet mornings. Matt was a child of the 90s and loved Michael Jordan and the Bulls, beating his brothers while playing N64 and the endless summer days spent at the pool. His mother will miss the opportunity to watch Matt with his children and she so dearly would love to hold him one last time.  Caring father to Emabelle and Tommy.  Dear boyfriend to Stephanie Melinshyn.  Beloved son to Danny and Tami (nee Mitch) McNicholas.   Loving brother to Dan (Lauren) McNicholas and Mike (Sadie) McNicholas.  Cherished grandson to William late Margaret) McNicholas and Carl (late Sena) Mitch.  A close friend to Brenna Needles. Matt worked as a Fork Lift Operator for Fed Ex.

Emabelle adored her daddy and her family will ensure that his memory is preserved in her heart. Tommy, who is just at the beginning of his life will miss out on the things that his dad was sure to show him- fishing on the lake, Notre Dame Football and how to hit a home run – but his family will also do their best to show him the things his dad loved.  Matt’s girlfriend, Stephanie will cherish the memories they had as they had just begun starting their life together.  Matt will be extremely missed and his family will sorely feel the emptiness of his loss.  In lieu of flowers, please consider contributions to college funds for Emabelle and Tommy.

Due to the current circumstances and restrictions caused by Covid-19, we ask that you please follow the states guidelines of wearing masks/face coverings and social distancing.  On behalf of the family and the funeral home staff, we would like to thank you for your cooperation.

Visitation Saturday, September 19th  from 11:00 A.M. until time of service at 3:00 P.M. at Kerr-Parzygnot Funeral Home 540 Dixie Hwy. (at Joe Orr Rd.), Chicago Heights, IL 60411.   Info: (708) 754-0016 .

My heart is broken, my wonderful loving kind hearted nephew-friend Matt has passed. I will never let his smile leave my heart. To Tami, Danny, Jr. and Mike, time will pass, this will never get easier. Remembering his tenacious appetite for laughter, fun and fishing for musky, will be our memories. May his soul rest peacefully with the Lord. May my deepest and most heart felt condolences be with you. So many memories, having had the chance to have Matt with us on vacation several times. My boys Liam and Brenden still talk about those trips today.

I am so deeply sorry to read about your son, Tammy. I only have one son and to lose him at such a young age would devastate my soul. He was younger than my Tim. I am so thankful you have his two children to keep his spirit alive. I will see you Saturday…sending much needed peace your way

    To dear Tami,

You don’t know love until you’ve carried a child. You don’t know grief until you’ve lost your child.

Dear Dan and entire McNicholas family,
I did not know Matt but I do know the McNicholas spirit and therefore am aware of the true joy he brought to all of you and how horrible his abrupt departure must be felt. From what is shared here, I expect Matt was a complete soul and fully appreciated the pleasures of this earth. I understand how great your grief is and send my most sincere condolences. May he rest in peace. With sympathy and love, Nona

We are so heartbroken for your loss, Mike, and sad that we were not able to offer our support and condolences in person. Find strength and comfort knowing Matt leaves behind great memories that you all shared, and a legacy through his children that will keep his spirit alive. We are here if you need anything, so please call any time.

    Tami and Dan,
A child does not have to be biologically yours to love them like your own. Primo and I will always love Matt (pumpkin) Danny and Mike. My heart goes out to you at this difficult time and I will keep you in our prayers. Thoughtfully, Chris Zartuche

I’m truly beside myself this day, only 5 minutes ago finding out about his passing from going to talk to Matty about St. Patrick’s day. I’m devastated. Myself and sister spent almost every St. Patrick’s day with Matty and his brothers and Da. His brother Michael saved my Daddy’s life once and Marty was with me the day my Daddy died. I’m in tearsand disbelief. My beautiful beautiful friend.
I will cherish you in my heart always.
Love you Matty rest easy son❤☘
