Roland Lee Janota, born on December 31, 1952, in Chicago Heights, Illinois, passed away peacefully on
December 29, 2024, just two days shy of his 72nd birthday. He was surrounded by loved ones in his final
moments.
Roland grew up in Beecher, Illinois, where he developed a lifelong passion for farming and a deep
connection to the land. This love for agriculture became a defining part of his identity and remained with
him throughout his life. His appreciation for the rural lifestyle extended into his hobbies and interests,
reflecting his enduring bond with nature.
Professionally, Roland dedicated an extraordinary 47 years to ComEd. Through decades of hard work and
determination, he earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends alike. His commitment to
excellence left a lasting impression on those who had the privilege of working alongside him.
On May 22, 1999, Roland married Airocolina (Pinky), the love of his life. Together they shared over two
decades filled with cherished memories and built a life centered on love and family. Roland was a devoted
father to Angela (John) Rose and Eric (Jordan) Saenz. He found immense joy in being a grandfather to
Eva, Tyler, Ryan, Bryce, Madden and Savannah. His family was the heart of his world.
Roland is also survived by his siblings Randy (Terry) Janota, Russell Janota, Rory Janota, Margo (Robert)
Norman, and Christine (Greg) Koets. He was preceded in death by his parents Roland Sr. and Mary Janota
as well as his brother Robert E. Janota.
A man of quiet strength and gentle kindness, Roland had a special fondness for animals that spanned
much of his life. Whether caring for them or simply enjoying their company on the farm he loved so
dearly, animals brought him peace and happiness. His passion for farming extended into one of his
favorite pastimes: collecting toy tractors—a hobby that brought him great joy over the years.
Those who knew Roland will remember him as a determined individual who lived life on his own terms
while always showing compassion to those around him. His legacy is one of resilience, kindness, and an
unwavering connection to what mattered most: family, nature, and community.
May Roland’s memory bring comfort to all who knew him and serve as an enduring reminder of a life
well-lived. In remembrance of Roland’s life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to
Settler’s Pond Animal Shelter.
Roland’s celebration of life will be held January 19 from 1 to 4 pm at the Beecher Funeral Home located
at 602 S Dixie Hwy, Beecher IL 60401. Dinner immediately following at the Beecher Community Center
located at 673 Penfield St. Beecher IL

The Roland I knew was soft spoken and always had a smile whenever I’d run into him at the different HQ’s we would report to. We started together back in 1971. Think I’ll always remember his chuckle or snort, whatever you’d called it, when he laughed. Very sad to hear of his passing. A good guy. RIP Rollie. You’ll be missed.
