Obituary
Rose Marie (Schnepf) Carlsson, born February 20, 1930, in Chicago Illinois to Emil and Elsa Schnepf. She graduated from Loretto Academy in 1948 and earned her Bachelors of Fine Arts degree from Clarke College in 1952. She was united in marriage to Carl L. Carlsson on August 17, 1957 in Homewood, Illinois.Rose Marie taught Elementary School before becoming a loving wife and mother to five children. She was an active member of St. Liborius Parish in Steger, Illinois. Rose Marie taught religious education to first communicants for 19 years. She served as president for the St. Liborius School Board, was a Eucharistic Minister, and was a member of the Council of Catholic Woman; where she was the recipient of the Woman of the Year award in 2008.Rose Maries generous spirit and love for all people motivated her to help in the development of the Community Outreach Program. As part of the Outreach program, she also established The Christmas Giving Tree which provides over 400 gifts to three different organizations.Rose Marie is survived by her adoring husband, Carl of Crete, four beloved children; Carl Joseph of Crete, Elizabeth of Hammond, Indiana, Christina (Dan) LeCocq of Crete, and Cynthia (Allen) Lucas of Newark, six cherished grandchildren; Carly, Matthew, Margaret, and Jack Lucas, and Brian and Hannah LeCocq.She was preceded in death by her parents Emil and Elsa Schnepf, and son Kurt Joseph Carlsson. Rose Marie Carlsson, 83, of Crete, died at home Sunday, January 5, 2014.Visitation Saturday, January 11 and Sunday, January 12 from 2:00 8:00 p.m. at Kerr-Parzygnot Funeral Home ,540 Dixie Hwy.
