Obituary
Thomas F. Bussey, Sr., age 88, of Chicago Heights, Illinois passed away peacefully on February 11, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Tom was born October 16, 1933, to the late Catherine (nee Flynn) and Walter Bussey in Joliet. Tom attended Joliet Township High School and Joliet Junior College. Tom proudly served in the United States Army. Tom spent many years working in Finance/Banking at GMAC, Continental Bank, and Lake View Bank. Upon his retirement, Tom kept busy working at a local golf course, delivering flowers and attending the sporting events of his grandchildren.
Tom coached his sons’ baseball and football teams for many years and left a lasting impression on many young athletes who to this day talk about what a great coach he was. Tom was most proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who often marveled at his sharp mind on current events and everything sports related. Tom was an avid reader, often reading a stack of five books at a time. Tom was a longtime member and an active parishioner of St. Kieran Church, regularly attended Sunday Mass at 8:00 A.M. and served as a Lector and Usher.
Tom was preceded in death by his beloved wife Noreen of 63 years. Tom was a devoted father to Thomas, Jr. (Cheryl) Bussey, Laurie (Bob) Rimsnider, Timothy (Patty Hanford) Bussey, Brian (Lori) Bussey and Kevin (Susan) Bussey. Tom is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Melissa (Bryan) Briones, Teresa (Marc) Lopez, Dana Woods, Mark (Michelle) Bussey, Michael (Brooke) Bussey, Abby (Chase)Boley, Courtney Rimsnider, Carter Bussey and Luke Bussey and his cherished great-grandchildren, Jalen, Isabel, Gianna, Graeme, Layla, Olivia, Blake, Nolan, and one due this June. Tom was a loving brother to Sue (late Rudy) Mihelich, Mary Ellen (William) Kursell, Patricia (late James) Buchar; preceded in death by the late Walter (Mary) Bussey, late Catherine (Lynn) Krause and late Virginia (William) Dow. Dear uncle to many nieces and nephews; fond brother-in-law to many.
Visitation Thursday, February 17th from 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Kerr-Parzygnot Funeral Home, 540 Dixie Hwy. (at Joe Orr Rd.), Chicago Heights, IL 60411. Mass of Christian Burial Friday, February 18that 9:30 A.M. at St. Kieran Catholic Church, Chicago Heights, Illinois. Interment: Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, Illinois.
