Obituary
Victor Irving Perdue died unexpectedly in his mothers home on December 28, 2016. He was 53 years old. He is survived by his mother Peggy, his wife Caroline, their sons Nicholas, Adam and Jesse, his daughters Sadie and Ruthie, and his brothers Mike, Keith, Dave and Earl. He is preceded in death by his father Homer.Victor was born in Whitehall, Ohio on May 1, 1963. He graduated from Crete-Monee High School in 1981 and went on to culinary school at Joliet Junior College. He worked in the food service industry his entire life, and once commented in an interview, I love food and I figure everyones got to eat. Chef Vic opened up his own restaurant in Crete, Illinois in 2004, electing simply to call it Vics on Main.Victor was an accomplished and award-winning chef. He was a guest cook on multiple television programs and appeared in countless newspaper reviews and interviews throughout all his years in the restaurant business. He was a loving and dearly loved father and husband, and he made everyone he met feel like they were a part of his family.Vic was not a perfect man as none of us are. But unlike most of us, he was a man who worked six and sometimes seven days a week, 14 to 16 hours a day to provide for his family. He had cracked knuckles and permanent oven burns on his hands and arms. He was very much a salt of the earth kind of man. But what we remember about him most is his warm smile and a heart so incredibly full of love that it overflowed onto everyone he met.Victor also believed in Jesus Christ as his Savior. He believed that even though he couldnt always be the man he so desperately wanted to be, he was a dearly loved and forgiven child of God. We thank God for the peace and the comfort we take in knowing that his chains in this life are gone and that we will see him again! Until that day comes, we will miss him desperately. Dad, we love you always. I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.
